can we laminate our NGO certificate, MOA, bye laws etc documents.
It is best not to laminate your NGO’s original legal documents. Laminating these documents can create serious problems:
- Rejection by Officials: Government offices, banks, and other authorities may refuse to accept a laminated document because they cannot verify its authenticity. They need to see the original paper and feel the seal or signature.
- Prevents Future Use: You cannot get a laminated document stamped or signed (attested) by a notary or official, which is often required for various applications and legal processes.
- Permanent Damage: Over time, the lamination plastic can turn yellow, crack, and even bond with the ink on the paper, making the document unreadable. Removing the lamination can destroy the document.
What you can do instead:
The best way to protect your documents is to place them in high-quality, clear plastic sleeves (sheet protectors) and store them in a secure file or cabinet away from sunlight and moisture. This keeps them safe without altering them. Also, please keep scanned digital copies as a backup.
