FCRA 2026 Amendments: What Changed and What it Means

On 22 June 2026, the Ministry of Home Affairs published the Foreign Contribution (Regulation) Amendment Rules, 2026, with immediate effect.

The amendments introduce key compliance changes for foreign donors, International and Indian NPOs receiving foreign contribution. These include a broader definition of “key functionary”, purpose- and geography-specific registration, a defined activity threshold for renewal, stricter conditions for instalment-based disbursements, and expanded reporting obligations.
