Social Stock Exchange

About 5 years back, the Government opened the doors for the not-for-profit sector to register and raise funds from the market through the Social Stock Exchange (SSE) just like the for profit sector. The National Stock Exchange and Bombay Stock Exchange have setup respective Social Stock Exchange which are operational under SEBI regulation. Eligible NPOs can just register and also raise capital through the SSE platforms.

Statistics on NSE and BSE SSE for registration and raising capital by NPOs is below:

  • Registration on SSE by NPOs
  • NSE-87 NPOs
  • BSE-25 NPOs

Raising capital:

  • NSE: Rs. 33 cr by 18 NPOs. 13 more NPOs have submitted draft fund raising document
  • BSE-Rs. 3.5 cr by 2 NPOs. 6 more NPOs have submitted draft fund raising document

The choice as we may note is for SSE of NSE.
